2009 Chardonnay Cellar Door Club Reserve
Produced exclusively for members of our Cellar Door Club, this very special wine is from our top-tier barrels of the vintage.
This velvety, tropical Chardonnay has beautiful varietal expression, with enough acidity and structure for balance. Aromas of pineapple, nutmeg, vanilla, and oak lead into a cornucopia of fruit on the palate—Gravenstein apple, mango, pear. The medium body and velvety texture carry through the flavors to a very long finish.
The grapes were harvested by hand and whole cluster pressed. The juice settled overnight, and was racked to 38% new French oak, 33% neutral French oak, 29% stainless barrels for primary fermentation. When fermentation was complete, the wine aged on the lees with bimonthly stirring until spring racking. The wine was racked and blended, the heavier lees were discarded, and then the wine was returned to 40% new French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation and age until the fall.
Food Pairing Notes
