2017 Celebrate Rosé of Pinot Gris
The grapes for this wine are from a block of vines we've come to refer to as Rogue Pinot Gris. Planted in 1987, located in the middle of our main Pinot Noir block, there are a few partial rows of Pinot Gris that we believed were Pinot Noir. After the vines began producing clusters, we realized something was amiss. We started making a rosé from this fruit in 2014.
The grapes were harvested by hand and destemmed. The fruit was pressed after a 9-day cold soak, settled, and fermented in stainless. The wine was racked off the heavy lees at dryness and aged for six months in stainless until bottling. To sparkle, the wine was transferred to a high pressure tank, and the pressure was slowly raised over five days until the ideal levels were achieved.
