2013 Pinot Gris Kimberley's Reserve
Our Reserve Pinot Gris is fermented in neutral oak barrels to explore an alternate expression of the grape. This technique deepens texture, and softens acidity, resulting in a rich, complex wine.
50% neutral French oak; 50% stainless
The flinty, fruity nose has aromas of apple, melon, and pear, with hints of honeysuckle. The texture of this wine is strikingly weighty and smooth for a Pinot Gris. There's more fruitiness on the palate, with apricot, white peach, and hints of citrus, butterscotch, and a lingering, succulent finish.
The grapes were harvested by hand and gently whole cluster pressed. The juice settled overnight, and then was racked to neutral oak and stainless steel barrels for primary fermentation. After fermentation was complete, the wine aged on the lees for 10 months with some stirring. This wine partially completed malolactic.
