Nouveau Day

November 19 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

A glass of Kramer Vineyards Pinot Noir Nouveau beside the bottle, on a barrel in the autumn sun

Le vin nouveau est arrivé!

Nouveau Day is our first taste of the 2026 harvest — a Kramer tradition since 2018. This year’s party is L’Apéro, a French-style cocktail hour: arrive with your wave and take the journey — a mini Kir Royal to welcome you, the 2026 Pinot Noir Nouveau itself, and a cellared Estate Pinot Noir to show what time does to the same grape.

Grazing boards and warm autumn bites run all evening, and the fire pits are lit as the light goes.

Arrival waves at 4:00, 5:00, and 6:00 pm — 20 guests per wave.

$25 per guest · $15 for wine club members. Your ticket includes all pours and food.

The 2026 Nouveau is $28 a bottle, limit 3 bottles per person. Only 10 cases were made.

Why Nouveau?

Nouveau is a modern invention with an old soul. Farmers have always tasted the new wine at harvest, but Nouveau the style needed 20th-century tools — carbonic maceration, stainless steel, bottling a wine weeks after picking and having it arrive fresh. Beaujolais turned it into a worldwide release party; the third Thursday of November has been the date since 1985.

Ours started by accident. In 2018 I had ten buckets of barely ripe Tempranillo — never going to make a serious red, but perfect for Nouveau, the one style where barely-ripe is exactly right. Whole cluster, quick ferment, bottled young, gone by Christmas. It was too much fun to do once.

Tempranillo ripening is a gamble in Oregon, though, so the Nouveau moved to Pinot Noir — something we can make every year. These days the Tempranillo becomes a nouveau rosé instead. The Pinot Noir version follows the same rules as that first batch: picked October 5 this year, pressed nine days later, no oak, no cellar time. The freshest bottle we’ll pour all year, made for the Thanksgiving table.

How Nouveau is made: estate Pinot Noir picked October 5, 2026, fermented whole cluster with carbonic maceration, pressed October 14, bottled young, and released on Nouveau Day, November 19.
