2011 Pinot Noir Heritage
Sourced from the first Pinot Noir planted in our estate vineyard in 1984, this block is composed of 100% Pommard clone, own-rooted vines.
25% new French oak barrels
Like the rest of our Pinot Noirs from the 2011 vintage, this wine is bright and expressive, with an abundance of spice, red fruit, and earth. Aromas of wild strawberry, clove, cinnamon, and cola permeate the glass. Dry on the palate, with smooth yet pronounced acidity, and integrating tannins, with flavors of strawberry-rhubarb up front, followed by allspice, cinnamon, mace, and white pepper, followed cherries and strawberries in the finish.
The grapes were harvested by hand and destemmed to 1.5-ton bins. After a 9-day cold soak, fermentation began. The vats were pumped over and punched down twice daily until dry, then pressed. The wine settled overnight, then racked to 25% new French oak barrels for 18 months to age until bottling.
