10 months in 15% new French oak
2011 Pinot Noir Estate
This deep ruby wine is very aromatic, with strawberries, cassis, and black cherries on the nose that continue onto the palate. Dry, with lively acidity and youthful tannins, there are layers of spice and earth in addition to the red fruit, and a very long finish.
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and destemmed. Cool harvest temperatures contributed to a long cold soak, 10 days total. After fermentation began, the must was pumped over and punched down twice daily until dry. After fermentation was complete, the must was pressed, combining press fractions. The wine settled overnight then was racked to 25% new French oak barrels and aged for ten months.
