2017 Pinot Noir 115 FUTURES`
Fruity and floral, this wine is a pleasure to drink right now! Very aromatic, with hints of rose and honeysuckle, strawberries, cherries, and cotton candy. On the palate, the fruitiness continues, with cherries, raspberries, and cranberries, with a peppery finish. Slightly grippy tannins, and the balanced acidity is a nice counterpoint to the opulent fruit.
This wine is from the Heritage inner rows--115 clone vines that were planted in the late 90s to stress the old vine Pommard planted in 1984. This younger vine Dijon clone fruit is harvested and vinted separately, to better understand the contribution of this clone in our other wines with more clonal diversity.
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and 2/3 destemmed to a 1.5 ton bin. Fermentation began after a 5-day cold soak. The must was pumped over and punched down twice daily until dry, then pressed. The wine aged in 25% new French oak until it was racked and blended the following spring.
