2017 Chardonnay Estate
10 months in 43% stainless, 14% new French oak
Aromas of peach, pineapple, honey, and chamomile, with hints of nutmeg and vanilla. Bright and juicy on the palate, with apple, lemon, and pear with a round, river rock minerality. The fruitiness and medium-light body has a nice tension between the textural, creamy roundness and lift from the citrusy acidity that picks up in the long finish.
From a 1.52-acre block of Dijon 76 & 96 clones planted in 1994, at an elevation of 700 feet, in Peavine soils.
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and whole cluster pressed. After the juice settled overnight, it was racked to barrels for fermentation. When primary was complete, the wine was racked, blended, and returned to barrel to age until bottling, undergoing partial malolactic fermentation.
