Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Sourced from our original planting of Pinot Noir in 1984, the Pinots from this block tend to be among our most structured and ageworthy. Find aromas of rose petal, tobacco, and earth. The dark berry fruits on the palate, with a spicy, grippy finish that will round with time.
Vineyard Notes
Own-rooted Pommard clones planted in 1984 at the estate vineyard.
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted, and 60% destemmed, layering the whole clusters on the bottom of the fermentation vats. After a six-day cold soak, fermentation began. The vats were pumped over and punched down twice daily and pressed at dryness. The wine settled overnight, and was racked to 25% new French oak to age until it was racked and blended the following spring.
