2021 Müller-Thurgau Estate

2021 Müller-Thurgau Estate

In the early 1980s, owner Keith Kramer took a vineyard management class with a fellow who was incredibly excited about Müller-Thurgau for Oregon. "He wouldn't shut up about it, so we bought some grapes when we had the opportunity in the mid-80s," he says. The wine was a hit, so vines at our estate soon followed. We've found it very productive at our site, yielding flavorful fruit even in the most challenging vintages. We've made wines in various styles, from dry to off-dry, semi-sweet to dessert, and even sparkling. The sparkling and still wines have become quite popular and are usually the top sellers in the tasting room. In 2018, Wine Enthusiast recognized us as a Notable Müller-Thurgau Producer in the US.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This is a very expressive white wine with fruity and floral qualities. Aromas of lychee, orange blossom, watermelon, and orange zest. On the palate, this wine is dry, with excellent mid-palate weight. There are flavors of peach, guava, Meyer lemon, pear, honeysuckle, and a hint of anise.
Vineyard Notes
Estate vines planted in 1984-88
Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested by hand, foot crushed, and pressed. The juice settled overnight, then was racked to stainless for primary fermentation, with a temperature range of 55-72°F. After fermentation, the wine was racked and aged on fine lees until the following spring. The wine was lightly fined with bentonite and sterile-filtered at bottling.
Food Pairing Notes
Serve chilled as an aperitif, or with mild cheeses, light white fish or shellfish dishes, or curries. Especially good with dishes that have coconut milk and some heat.
