The Rarest Clone

Clone 667 is the least-planted of the three main Dijon selections in Oregon. It's not that it doesn't make good wine—it's that it's finicky. Lower yields. More sensitive to site. More aromatic volatility if you're not careful.

But when it works? It's magic.

If 115 is the classicist and 777 is the night bottle, 667 is the perfumer—the wine that makes you stop mid-sentence and ask, "What is that spice?"

The 100% Whole Cluster Decision

In 2017, we fermented this wine with 100% whole clusters—stems and all. This was a deliberate, high-risk choice to amplify 667's natural aromatic lift. The result: candied cherry, raspberry, allspice, violet, white pepper, forest floor.

Light-bodied, silky, with bright energy and a savory, detailed finish. Six years in bottle has softened the edges and pulled everything into focus.

This is Pinot Noir that feels lifted and aromatic first—the kind of bottle that rewards attention.

How to Serve "The Perfumer"

  • 🌡️ Temperature: 55–60°F. Serve cool. Because this is a high-toned, aromatic wine, heat will make the delicate top-notes evaporate too quickly.
  • 🍷 Decanting: Splash decant only (15–20 mins). Unlike the 777, you don't want to over-aerate this. You want to catch the initial savory "pop" of the whole cluster spice.
  • 🍽️ Pairing: This wine is savory and lifted. Pair with Duck Confit, Wild Mushroom Risotto, or Roasted Quail. Avoid heavy steaks; think game birds and earth.

Why Only 18 Packs Exist

We only made 75 cases of this wine total. We've held the final 3 cases (36 bottles) in our cellar for this library release. Those 36 bottles = 18 six-packs in the Dijon Trilogy.

Once those 18 packs sell, 667 is gone forever. We discontinued this single-clone bottling after 2017, so this is your only chance to taste what makes this clone special.

What Makes 667 Different

115 (The Classicist) Balanced, versatile, dinner-table reliable
777 (The Night Bottle) Structure, spice, built for food
667 (The Perfumer) Aromatic, lifted, finicky—rewards risk-taking

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Candied cherry, raspberry, allspice, violet, white pepper, forest floor. Light-bodied and silky with bright energy and a savory, detailed finish. 100% whole cluster fermentation creates lifted aromatics and fine-grained tannin structure. This is the most aromatic and finicky of the three Dijon clones—the perfumer of the trilogy.
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from Yamhill Vineyards in Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Clone 667 is the least-planted of the main Dijon selections—lower yields, more sensitive, but incredibly aromatic when it works. We discontinued this single-clone bottling after 2017, making these final 36 bottles the last of their kind.
Production Notes
Hand-harvested October 2017. 100% whole cluster fermented in small 1.5-ton vat for maximum aromatic lift. Extended cold soak. Twice-daily punchdowns through fermentation. Aged in neutral French oak. Bottled September 2019. 75 cases produced. Discontinued single-clone bottling.
Winemaker Notes
667 is the wine I reach for when I want aromatic Pinot that makes you pay attention. The 100% whole cluster fermentation amplified its natural perfume—allspice, violet, white pepper. It's finicky, which is why we don't bottle it every year. But when it works, it's special. These final 36 bottles are the last you'll taste of Kramer 667.
Food Pairing Notes
Duck, roast chicken, pork loin, grilled salmon, mushrooms/lentils/roasted veg, charcuterie and soft cheeses.
