Dijon 115: The Classicist
Library Release • 2017 Vintage • Bottled June 2019 • 6+ years in bottle • Single-Clone Pinot Noir
Why Clone 115 Matters
In the mid-1980s, when Oregon winemakers were trying to figure out which Burgundian clones would thrive here, Dijon 115 emerged as a favorite. Not because it was the loudest or the most exotic—but because it was complete.
Clone 115 brings everything you want from Pinot Noir without any single element dominating: lifted aromatics, bright red fruit, natural acidity, and enough structure to age gracefully. It's the clone that doesn't need to prove anything.
If 667 is the perfumer and 777 is the night bottle, 115 is the classicist—the wine that makes you understand why people fell in love with Pinot Noir in the first place.
Clone Character:
- Origin: Selection from Burgundy's Côte d'Or
- Known for: Balance, structure, age-worthiness
- Fruit profile: Bright red fruits (strawberry, cherry, raspberry)
- Aromatic signature: Floral lift, subtle spice, clean finish
- Why we love it: Graceful without being delicate, structured without being heavy
At 6+ Years: Effortless
Hood strawberry, cherry, vanilla, lavender, black tea, cola. Light-bodied with silky tannins and a bright, precise finish.
The 2017 vintage's generous clusters created wines with natural elegance across our estate. In Clone 115, that translates to perfume and lift—the kind of Pinot Noir that feels complete without ever feeling heavy. Six years in bottle has softened the edges and brought everything into focus.
This is the wine you reach for when you want Pinot Noir to feel effortless.
How to Serve
Temperature: 55–60°F (slight chill enhances the bright fruit)
Decant: 20–30 minutes (optional, but helps the aromatics bloom)
Pair with: Roast chicken, pork loin, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, soft cheeses

The 2017 Clone Experiment
2017 was our largest harvest at Kramer, which gave us the luxury to bottle our Dijon clones separately—115, 777, and 667. Same vintage. Same winemaking. All genetically identical Pinot Noir, but centuries of spontaneous mutations created by "jumping genes" have given each distinct characteristics. This is your chance to taste how those mutations express themselves—to understand that when winemakers talk about "clone character," it's not abstract. It's what you taste in the glass.
