2017 Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir
Discontinued Label • Final Vintage
Library Release • 91 Points James Suckling • Bottled Fall 2018 • 6+ years in bottle
DISCONTINUED AFTER 2017
This AVA-designated bottling no longer exists in our portfolio. Once these bottles are gone, there will never be another vintage of Kramer Yamhill-Carlton.
Why This Label Mattered
For years, we bottled a Yamhill-Carlton AVA-designated Pinot Noir to showcase the distinctive character of our appellation. The Yamhill-Carlton AVA is known for marine sedimentary soils that produce wines with earthy, savory characteristics and firm structure.
After 2017, we shifted our focus to single-block and single-clone bottlings—more precise expressions of our estate. The Yamhill-Carlton label was discontinued, making this your last chance to experience it.
91 Points - James Suckling:
"This attractive, wild raspberry-scented pinot has a smooth, pastry-like edge. The palate is smoothly layered and delivers plenty of instantly appealing, fleshy fruit. Drink now."
At 6+ Years: Classic Yamhill-Carlton Character
Strawberries, black cherry, plum, cranberry, layered with sweet earthiness, cocoa nibs, mushroom, black tea. The 2017 vintage's generous clusters created naturally elegant wines, and this bottling shows classic Y-C terroir: earthy, savory, with vibrant fruit and firm structure.
This is Pinot Noir with place-driven character—the kind that shows you what Yamhill-Carlton tastes like.

Part of the Complete 2017 Story
This wine represents a different chapter in Kramer's evolution—before we focused exclusively on single-block and single-clone bottlings. It's included in our 2017 Vintage Collection 12-Bottle case, which tells the complete story of that exceptional harvest year.

What Makes Yamhill-Carlton Distinctive
The Yamhill-Carlton AVA is defined by its marine sedimentary soils—ancient ocean-floor deposits that drain quickly and force vines to work. The result: wines with distinctive earthy, savory characteristics, firm tannins, and mineral-driven structure. When people describe "classic Oregon Pinot," this is often the profile they mean.
