27 Blocks

27 Blocks
2023 Vintage

What happens when you harvest nine grape varieties from 27 vineyard blocks—and ferment everything together in one vat? You get a wine that’s bright, wild, and completely one-of-a-kind.

27 Blocks isn’t a blend—it’s a co-ferment. Each variety is picked as it ripens and added to the same fermenter, creating a living snapshot of the vintage. No formulas, no recipes—just the vineyard, the harvest, and time.

Bright, juicy, and light-bodied, 27 Blocks is a chillable red that captures the diversity of our estate and the spontaneity of the season. It’s never the same twice, and that’s exactly the point.

“Bright, chillable, and ready for summer—this is a red made for warm days.”

Tasting Notes
Pale garnet in the glass, the 2023 27 Blocks opens with expressive aromas of Bing cherry, brown sugar, cedar shavings, peach skin, and dried blueberry. The palate is light and juicy, with flavors of strawberry, fresh plum, vanilla, and tart cherry unfolding in vibrant layers. Bright acidity carries the wine through a clean, refreshing finish with no perceptible tannin—perfect for those who prefer their reds smooth and fruit-forward. Best served lightly chilled, especially on warm days or with a summer spread.
Vineyard Notes
Our 22-acre estate vineyard is composed of 27 distinct blocks planted to nine grape varieties. Located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA at 725 feet elevation with silty clay loam soils, the average vine age is 30 years. Each block contributes something unique—early ripening, vibrant acidity, depth, or aromatics—woven together into a complete expression of our site.
Winemaker Notes
The first fruit picked for this wine was Marquette, harvested early in the season just after our sparkling grapes. Each day during harvest, more grapes were added from across the estate—Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscat, Carmine, and others—until the fermenter brimmed with fruit from every block. Rather than ferment each lot separately, everything was co-fermented in one bin, punched down daily, and pressed at dryness. The wine was then aged in neutral French oak until bottling the following spring.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is versatile, vibrant, and built for the table. Enjoy it with grilled sausages, pork chops with stone fruit, lentil stew, or anything smoky and charred. It also plays beautifully with picnic fare, cheeses, or just a summer night and good conversation.

Other Notes
It’s a wine that invites questions and surprises—just like the vintage itself. Taste what the vineyard gave us, all in one glass. The patchwork label reflects the vineyard itself—27 unique blocks, stitched together into a single, expressive whole.
